Brief Profile:

Has done her M.Sc., Ph.D. (Microbiology) and MBA. Currently working as Scientist ‘F’ in the National Institute of Nutrition, she heads the Food and Drug Toxicology Research Centre.

Areas of her research include nutrient drug interactions, nutrition and cancer, anti-mutagenesis, genetic and environmental toxicology, food safety and hygiene and pre-clinical toxicology. With nearly three decades of research experience with 100 publications to her credit. She has guided many Ph.D students in the areas of nutrition and pharmacology. She is a member of a many prestigious scientific bodies like the Nutrition Society of India, Indian Pharmacological Society, Association of Microbiologist of India, Environmental Mutagen Society of India and Indian Association for Cancer Research. She serves as a committee member in many national bodies and is a Visiting Scientist at Institute Curie, Paris, France; Sylvius Laboratories, Leiden, Netherland apart from being a Certified GLP Inspector and Member of Editorial Committee in various International and National Journals. A Silver Medal in her PUC Examination in 1970. She was a University Ranker in M.Sc and received Young Scientist Award, Nutrition Society of India in 1989. Recently she won the Platinum City Strategist Award 2009 from Foundation for futuristic cities for a strategy on streaming street foods in Hyderabad.
