Brief Profile:

Dr.A.Vajreswari, presently serving as Scientist F and Head, Lipid Biochemistry Division of the institute. She earned her post graduate degree (M.Sc.) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Osmania University in Biochemistry, Hyderabad. She is a member of various scientific bodies; Indian Women Scientist Association and American Oil Chemist Society & its various divisions.  She served as reviewer for Food Agricultural Research Council, England and Biotech & Biotechnological Science Research Council, England. She is a recognized research supervisor in biochemistry, Osmania University and several research students are working for doctoral studies. She has several well cited and high impact publications to her credit.

Her broad area of research is on dietary fats/oils and their impact on human health and diseases particularly dyslipidemia, obesity and insulin resistance. Also, current focus is on how various classes of fatty acids and vitamin A affect the development of obesity and insulin resistance using both genetic and diet-induced obese rat models.
